Comments: Great site, found it hard to see some friends of mine in the "Moments Silence" list. Mark Cameron and I went to jump school together and visited each other on leave. He was a great guy and I think of him often. Keep up the good work, I look forward to checking in again in the near future.
Best regards. Nick

421 WEAPON TECH, SVC CDO & E BTY

Comments: ALTHOUGH NOW RETIRED, THE YEARS SPENT WITH THE AIRBORNE REGIMENT ARE STILL FRESH TO MY MIND AND I MISS THE HARD TIMES AND GOOD TIMES I LIVED WITH THIS SPECIAL GROUP. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER GUYS LIKE SCOTTY COLLINS WHO WHEN I WAS A ROOKIE IN 1977 EXPLAINED TO ME THE RELATIONSHIP THAT HAD TO BE CREATED BETWEEN THE INFANTRY MAN AND THE TECH. NEVERTHELESS, ALTHOUGH I MADE IT TO NDHQ AS A CAREER MANAGER, MY HEART NEVER LEFT WHAT I THINK WAS THE FINEST MILITARY ORGANIZATION CANADA EVER PRODUCED.

WHILE IN RWANDA, THE DAY OF DISBAND, I WAS APPROACHED BY MEANS OF RADIO COMM AND PERSONNALLY BY PARATROOPERS OF VARIOUS CONTINGENTS PRESENT IN RWANDA , AS I, THEY DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT WAS HAPPENING. THE STRONGEST COMMENTS CAME FROM THE TUNISIAN COMMANDOS WHO HAD THE HIGHEST REGARDS TOWARDS CANADIAN ELITE WHILE SERVING IN SOMALIA, THEY HAD WORKED WITH AND SEEN THE CANADIAN BOYS OPERATE AND HAD ONLY BUT HIGH REGARDS.

BEST REGARDS TO ALL PAST AND PRESENT JUMPERS,

JOE VAILLANCOURT
EX airborne gun mech

I completed the patrol pathfinder crse in 1986 and was an instructor on the course in 87,88.I also served in Recce Platoon and completed the MFP Crse which allowed me to serve on the Skyhawks from 1989-93. 89 I was an augmentee and the remainder as permament staff. After being posted back to 2 RCR in 93, a year in a leg unit was enough for me and I pulled the pin. I currently am a police officer with the Edmonton Police Service and work in patrol in Londonderry Division. The Regiment was the best and so were it's troops. Blue Skies, AIRBORNE.
